The Sherline Tapered Headstock w/ Flat Base 3/4-16 #1 Taper, Cog Belt is a precision-engineered component designed for industrial applications. Constructed from extruded 6061-T6 aluminum, it features a durable black anodized finish. This headstock is equipped with a 3/4-16 #1 Morse taper spindle and a 30-tooth cog belt pulley, offering versatility and reliability for various machining tasks.
The headstock incorporates lifetime lubricated Class 5 bearings, which ensure enhanced accuracy, tighter tolerances, and smoother operation. These bearings are capable of supporting continuous speeds up to approximately 4,000 RPM, with the potential to reach up to 10,000 RPM with a slightly adjusted preload setting. The design includes a dust cover washer to protect the spindle bearings, although it is not entirely sealed against dust or coolant exposure.
Mounting the headstock is facilitated by two 1/4-20 mounting holes and an alignment key slot on the flat base, allowing for secure attachment to fixtures or machines. The headstock’s spindle is designed for light-duty applications, with a .405-inch through hole that accommodates long stock, though it is not intended for high RPM rotation of long or out-of-round parts.
