This headstock is equipped with a spindle pulley and a precision ground head key, ensuring reliable performance in various machining applications.
The headstock offers customization options, including the choice between Class 3 and Class 5 bearings. Class 3 bearings have been a reliable standard, while Class 5 bearings provide enhanced smoothness, quietness, and cooler operation, making them ideal for industrial settings. The Class 5 headstocks incorporate two 20 mm, lifetime-lubricated ball bearings with an adjustable preload nut, factory-set for optimal performance at speeds up to 4000 RPM. Adjustments can be made for higher speeds if necessary.
An optional electroless nickel plating can be applied to the spindle, enhancing rust resistance and surface hardness for increased durability. This plating is identifiable by a machined groove on the spindle shoulder, indicating its treated status.
Additionally, the headstock can be ordered with a DC motor and speed control unit. This motor delivers maximum torque at low RPMs, surpassing the performance of equivalent AC/DC motors. The accompanying speed control unit is versatile, accepting a wide range of AC inputs and converting them to 90V DC for global usability. The speed range can be adjusted from 70 to 2,800 RPM, with a high-torque setting available for increased power at reduced speeds.
