The Sherline Single-Axis Manual Machine Slide 8″ (Metric) is a precision-engineered tool designed for meticulous manual machining tasks. Constructed from durable 6061-T6 aluminum, it features a sleek black anodized finish that enhances both its aesthetic appeal and resistance to wear. This model is equipped with a metric leadscrew, ensuring precise adjustments with handwheels graduated in 0.01 mm increments.

The slide incorporates a dovetailed table and saddle, both of which are fitted with adjustable gibs to eliminate play and ensure smooth operation. The leadscrew is precision rolled from steel, with adjustable backlash to maintain accuracy over time. The table screws are strategically positioned beneath the table to prevent interference from chips during operation.

Mounting the slide is versatile, with provisions for attachment from either the bottom or the top. The base includes four 1/4-20 holes on 2-inch centers for secure bottom mounting. Alternatively, the slide can be mounted from the top using the provided angle clamps, which fit into a groove around the base’s perimeter.

The slide is capable of supporting a weight capacity of approximately 10 lbs, depending on the distribution of the load. It is designed to withstand a duty cycle of 2080 hours under heavy use, although regular lubrication with light oil is recommended to prolong the life of the dovetail and screw components.

Note: Do not use WD-40 as a lubricant on these slides, as it will remove the anodized coating.
