The Sherline Single-Axis Manual Machine Slide 8 is a precision-engineered tool crafted from 6061-T6 aluminum, featuring a durable black anodized finish. This manual machine slide is designed for single-axis movement and is equipped with a precision rolled steel leadscrew, available in both inch and metric measurements. The leadscrew is adjustable to minimize backlash, ensuring precise and reliable operation. The dovetailed tables and saddles are fitted with adjustable gibs to eliminate play, enhancing the accuracy of the slide.
The slide offers versatile mounting options, allowing it to be secured from the bottom using four 1/4-20 holes on 2-inch centers, or from the top with four angle clamps that fit into a groove around the base’s perimeter. This flexibility in mounting ensures that the slide can be securely attached in various configurations to suit different operational needs.
With a weight capacity of approximately 10 lbs, the slide is capable of handling substantial loads, particularly when the weight is centrally located. The slide is designed for a duty cycle of 2080 hours under heavy use, with the anodized coating showing wear over time. Regular lubrication with light oil is recommended to extend the lifespan of the dovetail and screw components. The backlash nut, made of brass, is adjustable to compensate for wear, ensuring continued precision over its operational life.
Note: Do not use WD-40 as a lubricant on these slides, as it will remove the anodized coating from the parts.
