The Sherline Single-Axis Manual Machine Slide 18 is a precision-engineered tool crafted from 6061-T6 aluminum, featuring a durable black anodized finish. This manual machine slide is designed for single-axis movement and is equipped with an 18-inch table, offering versatility for various machining tasks. The slide is available with either an inch or metric leadscrew, both of which are precision rolled from steel to ensure accuracy and reliability. The leadscrew backlash is adjustable, allowing for precise control and minimizing play during operation.

The dovetailed tables and saddles are fitted with adjustable gibs, further enhancing the stability and precision of the slide. Handwheels are meticulously graduated in .001-inch increments for inch slides and .01 mm increments for metric slides, facilitating fine adjustments. The slide can be mounted securely from the bottom using four 1/4-20 holes on 2-inch centers or from the top with the provided angle clamps, ensuring flexibility in installation.

The weight capacity of the slide is approximately 10 lbs, contingent on the weight’s location and the table’s length. It is advisable not to exceed this limit, especially at the table’s end, due to leverage factors. Under heavy and constant use, the slide’s dovetail area may exhibit wear on the anodized coating after approximately 2080 hours, although functionality remains intact. Regular lubrication with light oil is recommended to prolong the lifespan of the dovetail and screw components.

Note: Do not use WD-40 as a lubricant on these slides, as it will remove the anodized coating from the parts.
