The Sherline Flanged Cartridge Spindle 3/4-16 #1 Taper, Cog Belt is crafted from bar stock steel and features a black oxide finish, providing durability and resistance to wear. The spindle shaft includes a central hole measuring 0.405 inches (10mm), allowing for versatile applications. This model is equipped with a 30-tooth cog belt pulley, enhancing its adaptability for various industrial tasks.
Sherline Industrial spindles are renowned for their precision and reliability, featuring lifetime lubricated bearings with adjustable preload. These bearings are Class 5, ensuring superior accuracy, tighter tolerances, smoother operation, and cooler running temperatures. The headstock bearings are rated for continuous speeds up to approximately 4,000 RPM, with the possibility of adjusting the preload for speeds up to 10,000 RPM.
The spindle is designed for easy installation, with a 2.25-inch diameter body intended to be mounted through a 2.3-inch hole. It is secured using three mounting holes on a 3.1-inch diameter flange, arranged at 120-degree increments. The spindle face extends 1.0 inch beyond the flange’s front surface, facilitating straightforward integration into various setups.
While the spindle is equipped with a dust cover, it is not entirely sealed, and exposure to dust from grinding operations can significantly reduce bearing life. Additionally, it is not designed for operation in a coolant bath, and the spindle shaft should be shielded from coolant spray to maintain optimal performance.
