The Sherline CNC-Ready Single-Axis Manual Machine Slide 8″ (Metric) is a precision-engineered tool designed for meticulous machining tasks. Constructed from durable 6061-T6 aluminum, it features a sleek black anodized finish that enhances its resilience and aesthetic appeal. This model is equipped with a metric leadscrew, offering precise control with handwheels graduated in 0.01 mm increments, ensuring accuracy in every operation.
The machine slide incorporates a dovetailed table and saddle, both fitted with adjustable gibs to eliminate play and ensure smooth movement. The leadscrew is precision rolled from steel, with adjustable backlash to maintain consistent performance over time. The slide is CNC-ready, designed to accommodate NEMA 23 stepper motors, although it requires these motors for manual operation.
Mounting flexibility is a key feature, with provisions for securing the slide from either the bottom or the top, using the included angle clamps for a secure fit. The slide supports a weight capacity of approximately 10 lbs, depending on the distribution and length of the table, making it suitable for a variety of machining applications.
The duty cycle of the slide is approximately 2080 hours under heavy use, with the anodized coating showing wear over time. Regular lubrication with light oil is recommended to extend the lifespan of the dovetail and screw components. The backlash nut, made from brass, is adjustable to compensate for wear, ensuring continued precision.
Note: Do not use WD-40 as a lubricant on these slides, as it will remove the anodized coating.
