The Sherline CNC-Ready Single-Axis Manual Machine Slide 8-Inch (Inch) is a precision-engineered tool crafted from 6061-T6 aluminum, featuring a durable black anodized finish. This machine slide is designed for single-axis manual operations and is equipped with an 8-inch table length. It offers the flexibility of either an inch or metric leadscrew, both of which are precision rolled from steel to ensure accuracy and reliability. The leadscrew backlash is adjustable, allowing for precise control and minimizing play during operation.
The dovetailed tables and saddles are fitted with adjustable gibs, enhancing stability and precision. The handwheels, measuring 1-5/8 inches, are graduated in .001-inch increments for inch slides, providing fine control over adjustments. This model is CNC-ready, featuring mounts for NEMA 23 stepper motors, although it requires the installation of these motors for manual operation.
Mounting options are versatile, with provisions for securing the slide from the bottom using four 1/4-20 holes on 2-inch centers, or from the top using four angle clamps that fit into the base’s perimeter groove. The slide’s weight capacity is approximately 10 pounds, contingent on the weight’s distribution and table length. For optimal performance and longevity, regular lubrication with light oil is recommended, as the dovetail area may show wear after extensive use.
Note: Do not use WD-40 as a lubricant on these slides, as it will remove the anodized coating.
