The Sherline CNC-Ready Single-Axis Manual Machine Slide 18-Inch (Inch) is a precision-engineered tool designed for versatile machining applications. Constructed from durable 6061-T6 aluminum, it features a black anodized coating that enhances its resilience and longevity. This model is equipped with an 18-inch table, offering ample space for various machining tasks. The slide is available with either an inch or metric leadscrew, both of which are precision rolled from steel to ensure accuracy and reliability. The leadscrew backlash is adjustable, allowing for precise control and minimizing play during operation.
The dovetailed tables and saddles are fitted with adjustable gibs, further enhancing the precision and stability of the machine. The handwheels, measuring 1-5/8 inches, are graduated in increments of .001 inches for inch slides and .01 mm for metric slides, facilitating meticulous adjustments. The slide is CNC-ready, featuring mounts compatible with NEMA 23 stepper motors, although it cannot be operated manually until these motors are installed.
Mounting the slide is flexible, with provisions for securing it from either the bottom or the top, using the provided angle clamps and socket head cap screws. The machine slide can support a weight capacity of approximately 10 pounds, depending on the distribution of the load. Under heavy use, the slide is designed to maintain functionality for up to 2080 hours, although the anodized coating may begin to show wear over time. Regular lubrication with light oil is recommended to extend the lifespan of the dovetail and leadscrew components.
Note: Do not use WD-40 as a lubricant on these slides, as it will remove the anodized coating.
