The Sherline CNC Lathe Kit w/ High-Torque Stepper Motors is designed for those who prefer to utilize their own computer and software for CNC operations. This kit facilitates the integration of personal computing systems with Sherline’s CNC-ready lathe models. It includes a 4-axis driver box, connecting cables, a power supply, and two high-torque stepper motors. These motors, featuring the NEMA #23 frame, deliver over 75% more torque compared to standard stepper motors, enhancing the lathe’s performance capabilities.

To set up, users need to connect the 25-pin parallel cable from the driver box to the computer’s printer port. The stepper motors are then mounted onto the crosslide and leadscrew of the Sherline CNC-ready lathe. The X and Z cables from the driver box are plugged into the stepper motors, completing the hardware setup. Users must then select and install their preferred control software to commence operations.
