The Sherline 8-Direction Benchtop Mill Column Upgrade (“) is designed for owners of the 5000-series or 5400-series Sherline milling machines who wish to enhance their equipment’s capabilities. This upgrade package allows the conversion of existing mills into an 8-direction mill, providing additional functionality that can be beneficial for more complex projects. The package includes a modified base and all necessary attachment screws to ensure a proper fit with the existing mill models. Additionally, a column travel extension is included, which enables the headstock to be positioned closer to the table, enhancing operational flexibility.
The upgrade features an adapter base that offsets the column back by an additional two inches, thereby increasing the Y-axis capacity to match that of the 2000-series, 8-direction mill. This enhancement allows for greater versatility in milling operations, making it a cost-effective solution for those seeking to expand the capabilities of their current milling machines without the need to purchase a new model.
Note: If upgrading a 5000/5400 series mill with a brass tube leadscrew cover for the Y-axis, the column upgrade cannot be used without removing the brass tube.
