This comprehensive kit includes essential mechanical components such as two motors, two white wheels, a yellow ball caster, and battery contacts, all designed for seamless assembly. The Romi chassis features a differential-drive mobile robot platform with a 6.5-inch (165 mm) diameter and accommodates six AA batteries (not included) in its integrated holder. The drive wheels are strategically positioned on the circular base plate’s diameter, enabling precise turns and in-place spinning, while a large, fixed ball caster at the rear ensures smooth movement. The chassis is equipped with 708mm Pololu wheels and Mini Plastic Gearmotors with extended backshafts, supporting the addition of quadrature encoders for position feedback. An abundance of general-purpose mounting holes and slots are available for attaching various electronics, such as microcontrollers, motor drivers, and sensors. The plastic components, available in six colors, offer customization options for replacement parts or unique color combinations.
