The Motoron M2U550 Dual Serial Motor Controller (Header Pins Soldered) is a compact device designed to control two DC motors via a UART interface. This controller can be connected to the same serial bus as other Motoron controllers, facilitating the expansion of a system with additional motors. The M2U550 is compatible with motor supply voltages ranging from 1.8 V to 22 V and is capable of delivering continuous output currents of up to 1.6 A for each motor. This particular model comes with pre-soldered headers.
Multiple Motoron controllers can be configured to operate on a single IC or serial bus, allowing for the independent control of numerous motors. Unlike many motor drivers, the Motoron controllers do not require any PWM outputs or timers on the microcontroller. Instead, a single IC or UART interface is sufficient, regardless of the number of Motoron controllers connected.
The M2U550 model features a non-inverted TTL serial (UART) interface and comes with pre-soldered headers. It is equipped with two motor control channels, allowing for the independent control of up to two bidirectional brushed DC motors per Motoron. This model supports a wide motor supply voltage range of 1.8 V to 22 V (absolute maximum) and a maximum output current per motor of 1.6 A continuous, peaking at 5 A for less than one second.
It also includes reverse-voltage protection on the motor power supply (down to 20 V) and a logic voltage range of 3.0 V to 4.9 V (5V nominal not recommended). The control interface for the M2T550 model is IC (up to 400 kHz), while for the M2U550 model, it is a non-inverted TTL serial (up to 250 kbps). Both models feature configurable motion parameters and a command timeout feature that halts motors if the Motoron stops receiving commands.
