The AndyMark PicoBox GEO is a versatile gearbox specifically engineered for FIRST Tech Challenge teams, offering a robust solution for adjusting output speed and torque in various applications such as drivetrains and mechanisms. It is designed to integrate seamlessly with other building systems familiar to these teams, utilizing a base 16 mm center-to-center hole pattern. The gearbox features reversible flanges that maintain this hole pattern, enhancing its adaptability.
This gearbox is a single reduction, double motor input model that employs steel 32DP gears. It is compatible with two NeveRest Orbital gearmotors, which can be mounted on either side of the robust steel 6 mm D output shaft or side by side with the output shaft positioned at one end of the gearbox. Additionally, the PicoBox GEO can be configured as a double reduction, single motor input, single output gearbox, using an included 36 mm D shaft to stack two gears on a cluster shaft located in the center of the gearbox.
Named after Geostationary Earth Orbit, the PicoBox GEO draws inspiration from the concept of geosynchronous orbits, where satellites remain above a fixed point on Earth, orbiting approximately 23,000 miles above the equator and completing a revolution every 24 hours.
The PicoBox GEO is exclusively compatible with the NeveRest Orbital series of gearmotors and is not suitable for use with the NeveRest Motor Only or NeveRest Classic series. Proper maintenance requires the application of grease for optimal operation and longevity. It is recommended to run the gearbox for 30 minutes without grease initially to allow the gear teeth to wear in, followed by regular greasing to ensure smooth performance.
Note: Ensure proper greasing and maintenance to prevent operational issues.
