The AndyMark FRC Field Perimeter is a specialized structure designed for the FIRST Robotics Competition, providing the necessary ‘fit and function’ for official events as determined by FIRST in 2015. This field perimeter is intended to support FRC District and Regional events, as well as FRC teams and communities, by offering a high-quality field for competition, practice, and demonstrations. The perimeter includes essential components such as side rails, gates, alliance stations, and is packaged in four shipping crates for ease of transport and storage. However, it does not include field carpet, electronics, or game-specific items for each year.
Constructed from extruded aluminum with hard coat anodization, the field perimeter is designed to be robust and durable. Polycarbonate panels are riveted to the extruded rails and positioned within grooves, ensuring stability and safety during use. The aluminum sheet driver shelves are equipped with steel hinges, and the gate plates and driver station bottom panels are made from aluminum diamond plate sheets. The overall weight of the field perimeter is approximately 2,700 pounds, and it is designed to fit within a playing field size of 54’3″ long by 26’3″ wide, with an exterior field size of 63’6″ long by 27’10” wide.
The design goals for the AndyMark FRC Field Perimeter include providing a similar or enhanced gameplay experience from the perspective of both robots and drivers. It is engineered to be as easy to set up as the current field perimeter, while being stronger and lighter, with fewer parts and road cases required. The absence of welded joints facilitates easier repairs in the field, and the anodized aluminum extrusions allow for seamless integration of wiring. The field perimeter is housed in wooden cases that roll on 4″ diameter, swiveling high load caster wheels, ensuring ease of mobility and setup.
Note: Ensure proper handling and setup to maintain safety standards during use.
