The AndyMark EVO Shifter Short Hex Shaft, StageA 3 Stage – 32.74:1 Ratio 2:1, StageB 3 Stage – 21.72:1 Ratio 2:1 represents a significant advancement in shifting transmission gearboxes. This two-speed, shift-on-the-fly gearbox incorporates a refined 4-tooth dog shifting mechanism, allowing for seamless transitions between speeds. It is compatible with two CIM or NEO motors and can be configured with either two or three interior stages, providing flexibility in performance. The gearbox is delivered assembled, though motors are not pre-installed.
This model introduces several enhancements over previous iterations, including a robust 1/8″ diameter shoulder screw and a dog gear made from AMPCO 18 Bronze, which offers improved strength and lubricity. The shift block assembly has been fortified with a larger bearing and threaded steel housing. The input stage utilizes 32 DP gears and a 15-tooth pinion gear, facilitating a high 85:15 first stage reduction. Users have the autonomy to select their preferred high and low ratios, with the ability to interchange them as needed. Additionally, the gearbox supports various encoder options, including the US Digital E4T and the CTRE SRX mag encoder.
The EVO Shifter employs a pneumatic shift method, powered by a spring-extend pneumatic cylinder, enabling shifts during acceleration, pushing, or deceleration. In the absence of air pressure, the system defaults to “Ratio A,” ensuring continued operation. The gearbox features aggressive weight reduction through machined gears and plates, and it can be mounted to an AM14U family chassis or a 2″x1″ box tube frame.
Note: Proper greasing is essential for optimal operation and longevity. It is recommended to run the gearbox for 30 minutes without grease for initial wear-in, followed by periodic application of Red Tacky Grease to the spur gears. No grease is required on the AMPCO bronze dog gear.
