The AndyMark EVO Shifter Short Hex Shaft, StageA 3 – 45.33:1 Ratio 2:1, StageB 3 – 21.72:1 Ratio 2:1 represents a significant advancement in shifting transmission gearboxes. This two-speed, shift-on-the-fly gearbox is designed with an improved 4-tooth dog shifting method, allowing for seamless transitions between gears. It accommodates motor inputs from either two CIM or NEO motors and can be configured with two or three interior stages, offering flexibility in performance.
The gearbox features a robust design with a 1/8″ diameter shoulder screw and a dog gear made from AMPCO 18 Bronze, which provides enhanced strength and lubricity compared to previous stainless steel designs. The shift block assembly is reinforced with a larger bearing and threaded steel housing, ensuring durability and reliability. The input stage utilizes 32 DP gears and a 15-tooth pinion gear, achieving a high first stage reduction of 85:15.
Users have the ability to independently select high and low gear ratios, providing customization options not confined to preset spreads. The gearbox also supports various encoder options, including the US Digital E4T, enhancing its adaptability for different applications. Weight reduction features have been meticulously integrated into the gears and plates, optimizing the gearbox for performance without compromising strength.
The EVO Shifter employs a pneumatic shift method, utilizing a spring-extend pneumatic cylinder that allows for gear shifting even during acceleration or deceleration. This ensures continuous operation even if air pressure is lost, as the system defaults to “Ratio A” in such scenarios. The gearbox is compatible with existing mounting plate holes, facilitating easy installation onto an AM14U family chassis or a 2″x1″ box tube frame.
Note: Proper installation of the pinion gear requires specific procedures, including the use of a 3-ton arbor press for NEO motors, and the application of red Loctite 271 for CIM motors to ensure secure attachment.
