The AndyMark EVO Shifter Short Hex Shaft, StageA 3 – 25.90:1 Ratio 1.14:1, StageB 3 – 18.71:1 Ratio 1.14:1 represents a significant advancement in shifting transmission gearboxes. This two-speed, shift-on-the-fly gearbox is designed to accommodate two CIM or NEO motors, offering flexibility in motor input. The gearbox is engineered with two or three interior stages and features a selection of 1/2 inch output shafts. It is delivered assembled, though motors are not pre-installed.
This model incorporates several enhancements over previous iterations, including a robust 4-tooth dog shifting mechanism and a durable 1/8″ diameter shoulder screw. The dog gear is crafted from AMPCO 18 Bronze, providing enhanced lubricity and strength. A new shift block assembly with a larger bearing and threaded steel housing is also included. The gearbox allows users to independently select high and low ratios, offering greater customization. Additionally, it supports various encoder options, including the US Digital E4T and the CTRE SRX mag encoder.
The EVO Shifter employs a pneumatic shift method, utilizing a spring-extend pneumatic cylinder for seamless shifting during acceleration, pushing, or deceleration. The gearbox is compatible with an AM14U family chassis or a 2″x1″ box tube frame, thanks to existing mounting plate holes. Weight ranges from 2.9 to 3.5 pounds, depending on the stage configuration.
Proper maintenance is crucial for optimal performance. It is recommended to run the gearbox for 30 minutes without grease for initial wear-in, followed by periodic application of Red Tacky Grease to the spur gears. The AMPCO bronze dog gear does not require greasing. The encoder ratio for two-stage versions is 3:1 between the Output Shaft and Encoder Shaft.
