The AndyMark EVO Shifter Short Hex Shaft, StageA 3 – 05.45:1 Ratio 1.14:1, StageB 3 – 08.63:1 Ratio 1.14:1 represents a significant advancement in shifting transmission gearboxes. This two-speed, shift-on-the-fly gearbox incorporates an enhanced 4-tooth dog shifting mechanism, allowing for seamless transitions between gears. It is compatible with two CIM or NEO motors and can be configured with either two or three interior stages, offering flexibility in performance. The gearbox is shipped assembled, though motors are not installed.
Significant improvements have been made over previous models, including a robust 1/8″ diameter shoulder screw and a dog gear made from AMPCO 18 Bronze, which provides added lubricity for smoother operation. The gearbox features a super-strong shift block assembly with a larger bearing and threaded steel housing, enhancing durability. The input stage utilizes 32 DP gears and a 15-tooth pinion gear, achieving a high 85:15 first stage reduction. Users can independently select high and low ratios, allowing for customized performance.
The EVO Shifter employs a pneumatic shift method, utilizing a spring-extend pneumatic cylinder that enables shifting even during acceleration or deceleration. This design ensures that the robot can continue to operate using Ratio A if air pressure is lost. The gearbox also includes aggressive weight reduction features and is designed for easy assembly and disassembly, with cluster gears that have identical features on both sides.
The gearbox offers more encoder options, including the US Digital E4T encoder, and can be mounted to an AM14U family chassis or a 2″x1″ box tube frame using existing mounting plate holes. The optional third stage provides an additional C ratio choice, further enhancing its versatility. The gearbox requires periodic application of grease for optimal performance and longevity, though no grease is needed on the AMPCO bronze dog gear.
