The AndyMark EVO Shifter am14u Family Shaft, StageA 3 Stage – 21.72:1 Ratio 2:1, StageB 3 Stage – 12.00:1 Ratio 2:1 represents a significant advancement in shifting transmission gearboxes. This two-speed, shift-on-the-fly gearbox incorporates an enhanced 4-tooth dog shifting method, allowing for seamless transitions between gears. It is compatible with two CIM or NEO motors and can be configured with either two or three interior stages, offering flexibility in performance. The gearbox is shipped assembled, though motors are not pre-installed.
The design improvements include a robust 1/8″ diameter shoulder screw and a dog gear made from AMPCO 18 Bronze, which provides added strength and lubricity compared to previous stainless steel designs. The shift block assembly is reinforced with a larger bearing and threaded steel housing, enhancing durability. The input stage employs 32 DP gears and a 15-tooth pinion gear, facilitating a high 85:15 first stage reduction. Users have the liberty to select independent high and low ratios, with the option to swap ratios as needed.
The gearbox features aggressive weight reduction techniques and allows for easy disassembly and reassembly without concern for gear orientation. It can be mounted to an AM14U family chassis or a 2″x1″ box tube frame using existing mounting plate holes. The pneumatic shift method, powered by a spring-extend pneumatic cylinder, ensures reliable operation even during acceleration or deceleration.
For optimal performance, it is recommended to follow specific greasing and break-in procedures. The gearbox requires periodic application of Red Tacky Grease to maintain smooth operation, though the AMPCO bronze dog gear does not require greasing. The encoder ratio for two-stage versions is 3:1, providing precise control and feedback.
Note: When using a NEO motor, a 3-ton arbor press is required to install the pinion due to the intended interference fit. Please follow the NEO Press Fit Pinion Guide for proper installation.
