The AndyMark EVO Shifter am14u Family Hex Shaft, StageA 3 Stage – 06.86:1 Ratio 1.14:1, StageB 3 Stage – 06.86:1 Ratio 1.14:1 represents a significant advancement in shifting transmission gearboxes. This two-speed, shift-on-the-fly gearbox is designed with an improved 4-tooth dog shifting method, allowing for seamless transitions between speeds. It accommodates motor inputs from two CIM or NEO motors and can be configured with either two or three interior stages, offering flexibility in performance. The gearbox is shipped assembled, though motors are not installed, even if included in the order.
The EVO Shifter incorporates several enhancements over previous models, including a robust 1/8″ diameter shoulder screw and a dog gear made from AMPCO 18 Bronze, which provides added lubricity for smoother shifting. The gearbox features a super-strong shift block assembly with a larger bearing and threaded steel housing, contributing to its durability. The input stage utilizes 32 DP gears and a 15-tooth pinion gear, achieving a high 85:15 first stage reduction. Users have the ability to independently select high and low ratios, and can swap these ratios as needed, providing greater control over performance.
The gearbox is equipped with aggressive weight reduction features and is designed for easy assembly and disassembly, with cluster gears that have identical features on both sides. It can be mounted to an AM14U family chassis or a 2″x1″ box tube frame. The pneumatic shift method, powered by a spring-extend pneumatic cylinder, allows for shifting while a robot is in motion. The gearbox also offers more encoder options, including the US Digital E4T encoder.
Note: Proper greasing and a break-in period are recommended for optimal operation and longevity of the gearbox. The included 15 Tooth 32DP pinion gear requires specific installation procedures, particularly when used with a NEO motor, which necessitates a 3-ton arbor press due to the interference fit.
