The AndyMark EVO Shifter am14u Family Hex Shaft, StageA 2 Stage – 10.86:1 Ratio, StageB 2 Stage – 06.00:1 Ratio represents a significant advancement in shifting transmission gearboxes. This two-speed, shift-on-the-fly gearbox incorporates an enhanced 4-tooth dog shifting method, allowing for seamless transitions between gears. It is compatible with two CIM or NEO motors and can be configured with either two or three interior stages, offering flexibility in output shaft selection. The gearbox is delivered assembled, though motors are not included.
Several improvements distinguish this model from previous iterations. The dog gear now features four dogs on each face, enhancing strength and durability. Constructed from AMPCO 18 Bronze, the dog gear offers superior lubricity compared to stainless steel. The shift block assembly has been fortified with a larger bearing and threaded steel housing, ensuring robust performance. The input stage employs 32 DP gears and a 15-tooth pinion gear, achieving a high first stage reduction of 85:15. Users can independently select high and low ratios, with the option to swap ratios as needed.
The EVO Shifter supports various encoder options, including the US Digital E4T and the CTRE SRX mag encoder. Weight reduction features have been meticulously integrated into the gears and plates, facilitating easy assembly and disassembly. An optional third stage provides additional ratio choices, and the gearbox can be mounted to an AM14U family chassis or a 2″x1″ box tube frame.
The pneumatic shift method utilizes a spring-extend pneumatic cylinder, allowing shifts to occur while a robot is in motion. This ensures continued operation even if air pressure is lost. The gearbox requires periodic application of Red Tacky Grease for optimal performance and longevity. The encoder ratio for two-stage versions is 3:1, providing precise control and feedback.
Note: Ensure proper installation of pinion gears, especially when using a NEO motor, as a 3-ton arbor press is required due to the interference fit.
