The 3-Channel Wide FOV Time-of-Flight Distance Sensor for TI-RSLK MAX Using opt3101 is a sophisticated module designed to enhance the functionality of the TI-RSLK MAX robot. Utilizing the OPT3101 IC from Texas Instruments, this sensor emits infrared light in three selectable directions through its integrated LEDs. It measures distance by calculating the time delay of the reflected signal, offering precise proximity and distance readings via a digital IC interface. The sensor’s field of view spans nearly 180 degrees, with a maximum range of approximately one meter.
This advanced sensor distinguishes itself from conventional infrared sensors by emitting 940 nm infrared light pulsed at 10 MHz and measuring the phase delay of the reflected signal, which directly correlates to the distance of the target object. Additionally, it assesses the amplitude of the signal to determine the object’s brightness, reflectivity, and proximity.
The module is engineered for seamless integration with the TI-RSLK MAX chassis, connecting through a 7-pin connector. It is compatible with any IC-capable device, powered by a supply voltage ranging from 2.5 V to 5 V. The board features on-board regulators to provide the necessary 3 V logic voltage and includes a circuit for shifting IC clock and data lines to match the supplied VIN logic level. This design facilitates easy interfacing with both 3 V and 5 V systems, and its 0.1-inch pin spacing ensures compatibility with standard solderless breadboards and perfboards.
