The FFBoard Open (STM32F407 USB Interface Only) is an open-source project designed for the creation of custom force feedback devices and the interfacing with simulation peripherals. It is particularly suitable for the development of force feedback steering wheels and similar devices. The highly modular firmware and hardware facilitate the creation of custom devices and the easy addition of support for external hardware such as pedals, buttons, and motor drivers.
This board is equipped with multiple SPI interfaces for the connection of buttons on steering wheels, including those of the Thrustmaster brand and shift registers. It also has eight digital inputs for direct buttons and six analog inputs for potentiometers, pedals, and shifters.
The forthcoming TMC4671-based motor driver is a reference motor driver specifically developed for this project. It is designed to drive servo motors in direct drive force feedback wheels with exceptional resolution and efficiency.
The board also features a PWM output that can transmit the force feedback torque to external motor drivers and DC half-bridges directly from the board itself if the TMC4671 is not utilized. In such a case, an incremental encoder must be connected to the onboard encoder header.
