The Waveshare 4-Channel RS485 to RJ45 Ethernet Serial Server w/ PoE Ethernet Port is a compact, multifunctional device that serves as a data acquirer or an Internet of Things (IoT) gateway. It is equipped with four channels of RS485 and an Ethernet port, with an optional Power over Ethernet (PoE) version. This device is ideal for various applications such as data acquisition, IoT gateway, safety and security IoT, and intelligent instrument monitoring.
Each of the four RS485 channels can operate independently without interference, facilitating efficient data transmission. This device amalgamates several functions, including a serial server, Modbus gateway, MQTT gateway, and RS485 to JSON converter. It utilizes a screw terminal for stable power input and features a design that allows for wall-mounting or rail-mounting, enabling swift deployment and expansion.
This device supports bidirectional transparent data transmission between RS485 and Ethernet and is equipped with four RS485 ports and one Ethernet port. It features power isolation and signal isolation for protection. The Ethernet RJ45 is compliant with IEEE 802.3af and supports PoE, and it includes a 10/100M auto-negotiation RJ45 connector with 2 KV surge protection.
Multiple configuration methods are supported by this device, including web browser configuration, dynamic IP acquisition via DHCP, and DNS protocol-connected domain server address. It also boasts multiple protection features for safety and stability, such as onboard power supply and signal isolation, built-in transient voltage suppression tube, resettable fuse, and protection diode. The device is housed in a durable aluminum alloy enclosure that has undergone sandblasting and anodic oxidation.
