The AndyMark PicoBox Uno is a meticulously engineered gearbox tailored for FIRST Tech Challenge teams, offering a robust and adaptable solution for fine-tuning the output speed and torque of various mechanisms and drivetrains. This gearbox is designed to integrate seamlessly with other building systems familiar to these teams, featuring a base 16 mm center-to-center hole pattern. The reversible flanges maintain this pattern, and the gearbox’s design allows for versatile configurations, such as mounting the motor and output shaft on the same side.

This single reduction, single motor input gearbox employs durable steel 32DP gears and is compatible with one NeveRest Classic motor, specifically the NeveRest Classic 40 or 60. It features a sturdy steel 6 mm D output shaft, ensuring reliable performance. The gearbox offers three gear ratio options, enabling users to experiment and understand the impact of gear ratio changes on driving performance.

Proper maintenance is crucial for optimal operation and longevity. It is recommended to use red tacky grease for lubrication and to conduct a ‘run in’ period by operating the gearbox continuously for 30 minutes without grease to allow the gear teeth to wear in. Following this, the gears should be cleaned and thoroughly greased. Regular cleaning, inspection, and greasing are advised to maintain smooth operation and extend the gearbox’s lifespan.
