This versatility allows users to configure the gearbox to either increase or decrease the output shaft speed relative to the input, depending on their specific needs. The gearbox features a 1/2 inch hex bore on both gears, enabling easy configuration changes without additional purchases.
The gearbox includes a short 1/2 inch hex output shaft that extends approximately 2 inches from either face, with the option to replace it with any Toughbox output shaft. The design accommodates a pass-through shaft setup by replacing the rear bearing with another 1/2 inch hex bearing, allowing for custom shaft lengths without machining. This feature is particularly useful for creating roller intakes when combined with compatible wheels.
Mounting the gearbox is straightforward, thanks to its “wings” that fit over any 1 inch wide extrusion, such as Peanut or Box Tube, facilitating easy attachment to a robot’s frame. The gearbox supports multiple input hardware options, including CIM/NEO, Falcon, and Sport Gearbox, each offering unique benefits. The CIM/NEO and Falcon options are ideal for flywheel shooters, providing a bearing-supported output shaft optimized for absorbing shock loads. The Sport Gearbox option offers an additional reduction stage and secure mounting, suitable for applications like climbers.
For those who prefer to customize their gear ratios, the gearbox is available without gears, allowing the use of any two 20DP, 1/2 inch wide, 1/2 inch hex bore gears totaling 70 teeth. This flexibility also permits the use of the gearbox shell as a mounting point for an extended shaft in a symmetrical setup.
