This single-speed gearbox is part of the EVO Slim line, which shares several components with the EVO Shifter, including weight-relieving features and robust construction using all-steel gears and aluminum plates. The gearbox is provided in kit form, allowing for customization and assembly to accommodate up to three motors, although motors are not included in the package.
The EVO Slim gearbox utilizes a 15 Tooth 32DP pinion gear, which is included in the kit. This pinion gear is designed without a key, and its installation may require specific procedures, particularly when used with different motor types such as the CIM or NEO. For the NEO motor, a 3-ton arbor press is necessary due to the interference fit required. For the CIM motor, the pinion may either slip fit or require a press fit, depending on manufacturing tolerances. In both cases, the application of red Loctite 271 is recommended to ensure secure attachment.
The gearbox is compatible with various encoder options, including the E4T Optical Encoder Kit and the SRX Mag Encoder. Installation of these encoders necessitates a 3D printed mount plate, and additional mounting hardware may be required for the SRX Mag Encoder. Future iterations of the gearbox will include pre-drilled holes to accommodate the Encoder Mount Pad, simplifying the installation process.
