The AndyMark EVO Shifter am14u Family Shaft, StageA 3 Stage – 45.33:1 Ratio 2:1, StageB 3 Stage – 15.11:1 Ratio 2:1 represents a significant advancement in shifting transmission gearboxes. This two-speed, shift-on-the-fly gearbox incorporates an enhanced 4-tooth dog shifting method, allowing for seamless transitions between speeds. It is compatible with two CIM or NEO motors and can be configured with either two or three interior stages, offering flexibility in performance. The gearbox is shipped assembled, though motors are not installed.
This model introduces several improvements over previous iterations, including a dog gear with four dogs on each face for increased durability and a robust 1/8″ diameter shoulder screw. The dog gear is crafted from AMPCO 18 Bronze, providing similar strength to stainless steel with added lubricity for smoother operation. The shift block assembly is reinforced with a larger bearing and threaded steel housing, enhancing its strength and reliability.
The gearbox features a high 85:15 first stage reduction, and users can independently select high and low ratios, allowing for tailored performance. The design includes aggressive weight reduction features and cluster gears that facilitate easy assembly. An optional third stage offers additional ratio choices, and the gearbox can be mounted to an AM14U family chassis or a 2″x1″ box tube frame.
The EVO Shifter employs a pneumatic shift method, utilizing a spring-extend pneumatic cylinder for efficient shifting even under dynamic conditions. This ensures continued operation in the event of air pressure loss. The gearbox is designed with a 3:1 encoder ratio on two-stage versions, and it includes a US Digital encoder and pneumatic cylinder.
Note: Proper greasing is essential for optimal operation and longevity of the gearbox. It is recommended to run the gearbox for 30 minutes without grease for initial wear-in before applying grease periodically to the spur gears.
