The AndyMark EVO Shifter Short Hex Shaft, StageA 3 – 45.33:1 Ratio 2:1, StageB 3 – 09.54:1 Ratio 2:1 represents a significant advancement in shifting transmission gearboxes. This two-speed, shift-on-the-fly gearbox is designed with an improved 4-tooth dog shifting method, allowing for seamless transitions between speeds. It accommodates two CIM or NEO motors and offers flexibility with two or three interior stages, along with various 1/2 inch output shaft options. The gearbox is delivered assembled, though motors are not pre-installed.
The EVO Shifter incorporates several enhancements over previous models, including a robust 1/8″ diameter shoulder screw and a dog gear made from AMPCO 18 Bronze, which provides added lubricity for smoother shifting. The shift block assembly is reinforced with a larger bearing and threaded steel housing. The input stage features 32 DP gears and a 15-tooth pinion gear, enabling a high first stage reduction. Users can independently select high and low ratios, offering greater customization. The gearbox also supports multiple encoder options, such as the US Digital E4T and the CTRE SRX mag encoder.
The gearbox is designed with aggressive weight reduction features and allows for easy disassembly and reassembly without concern for gear orientation. It can be mounted to an AM14U family chassis or a 2″x1″ box tube frame using existing mounting plate holes. The EVO Shifter employs a pneumatic shift method, utilizing a spring-extend pneumatic cylinder for shifting, which can be executed while a robot is in motion.
Proper maintenance is crucial for optimal performance. It is recommended to run the gearbox for 30 minutes without grease for initial wear-in, followed by periodic application of Red Tacky Grease to the spur gears. The AMPCO bronze dog gear does not require greasing. The encoder ratio for programming is 3:1 between the Output Shaft and Encoder Shaft for two-stage versions.
