The AndyMark EVO Shifter Short Hex Shaft, StageA 3 – 18.71:1 Ratio 1.14:1, StageB 3 – 25.91:1 Ratio 1.14:1 represents a significant advancement in shifting transmission gearboxes. This two-speed, shift-on-the-fly gearbox incorporates an enhanced 4-tooth dog shifting mechanism, allowing for smooth and efficient transitions between gears. It is compatible with two CIM or NEO motors and can be configured with either two or three interior stages, offering flexibility in performance. The gearbox is shipped assembled, though motors are not installed.
The EVO Shifter features several improvements over previous models, including a robust 1/8″ diameter shoulder screw and a dog gear made from AMPCO 18 Bronze, which provides added lubricity and strength. The shift block assembly is reinforced with a larger bearing and threaded steel housing, enhancing durability. The input stage utilizes 32 DP gears and a 15-tooth pinion gear, achieving a high 85:15 first stage reduction. Users can independently select high and low ratios, allowing for customizable performance.
The gearbox also includes aggressive weight reduction features and is designed for easy assembly and disassembly, with cluster gears that have identical features on both sides. An optional third stage offers an additional C ratio choice of 1.14 or 2:1. The pneumatic shift method, powered by a spring-extend pneumatic cylinder, enables shifting while a robot is in motion, ensuring continuous operation even if air pressure is lost.
The EVO Shifter is equipped with various encoder options, including the US Digital E4T, and is designed to be mounted on an AM14U family chassis or a 2″x1″ box tube frame. It requires proper greasing for optimal performance and longevity, with Red Tacky Grease recommended for periodic application. The gearbox’s design ensures that users can easily swap ratios and configure the transmission to meet specific needs.
