The AndyMark EVO Shifter am14u Family Shaft, StageA 3 Stage – 18.71:1 Ratio 1.14:1, StageB 3 Stage – 08.63:1 Ratio 1.14:1 represents a significant advancement in shifting transmission gearboxes. This two-speed, shift-on-the-fly gearbox is designed with an improved 4-tooth dog shifting method, allowing for seamless transitions between gears. It accommodates motor inputs from either two CIM or NEO motors and can be configured with two or three interior stages, offering flexibility in performance. The gearbox is shipped assembled, though motors are not installed.
The EVO Shifter incorporates several enhancements over previous models, including a robust 1/8″ diameter shoulder screw and a dog gear made from AMPCO 18 Bronze, which provides added lubricity for smoother shifting. The shift block assembly is reinforced with a larger bearing and threaded steel housing, ensuring durability. The input stage utilizes 32 DP gears and a 15-tooth pinion gear, facilitating a high 85:15 first stage reduction. Users have the freedom to independently select high and low ratios and can swap between them as needed.
This gearbox also features aggressive weight reduction measures and is designed for easy assembly, with cluster gears that have identical features on both sides. It can be mounted to an AM14U family chassis or a 2″x1″ box tube frame. The pneumatic shift method, powered by a spring-extend pneumatic cylinder, allows for shifting even during acceleration or deceleration. The gearbox’s weight ranges from 2.9 to 3.5 pounds, depending on the stage configuration.
The EVO Shifter offers enhanced encoder options, including the US Digital E4T encoder, and supports a 3:1 encoder ratio on two-stage versions. It is essential to apply grease periodically to ensure smooth operation, although the AMPCO bronze dog gear does not require greasing. The gearbox is designed for optimal performance and longevity, making it a reliable choice for demanding applications.
