The AndyMark EVO Shifter am14u Family Hex Shaft, StageA 2 Stage – 10.86:1 Ratio, StageB 2 Stage – 07.56:1 Ratio represents a significant advancement in shifting transmission gearboxes. This two-speed, shift-on-the-fly gearbox incorporates an enhanced 4-tooth dog shifting mechanism, allowing for smooth and efficient transitions between gears. It is compatible with two CIM or NEO motors and can be configured with either two or three interior stages, offering flexibility in output shaft selection. The gearbox is delivered assembled, though motors are not pre-installed.
Several improvements distinguish this model from previous iterations. The dog gear now features four dogs on each face, enhancing strength and durability. The use of AMPCO 18 Bronze for the dog gear material provides added lubricity, ensuring smoother operation. A robust shift block assembly with a larger bearing and threaded steel housing further enhances the gearbox’s reliability. The input stage employs 32 DP gears and a 15-tooth pinion gear, facilitating a high first stage reduction of 85:15. Users can independently select high and low ratios, allowing for customizable performance.
The gearbox also includes advanced features such as aggressive weight reduction and the ability to disassemble and reassemble without concern for gear orientation. An optional third stage offers additional ratio choices, and the gearbox can be mounted to an AM14U family chassis or a 2″x1″ box tube frame. The pneumatic shift method, powered by a spring-extend pneumatic cylinder, allows for seamless shifting even under dynamic conditions.
The EVO Shifter is designed for optimal performance and longevity, requiring periodic application of Red Tacky Grease after an initial break-in period. The encoder ratio for two-stage versions is 3:1, and the gearbox includes a US Digital encoder and pneumatic cylinder. The construction features shielded, flanged ball bearings, 1117 steel 32 DP gears, and 4140 steel output shafts, ensuring robust and reliable operation.
