The AndyMark EVO Shifter am14u Family Shaft, StageA 3 Stage – 09.54:1 Ratio 2:1, StageB 3 Stage – 32.74:1 Ratio 2:1 represents a significant advancement in shifting transmission gearboxes. This two-speed, shift-on-the-fly gearbox incorporates an enhanced 4-tooth dog shifting mechanism, allowing for seamless transitions between speeds. It is compatible with two CIM or NEO motors and can be configured with either two or three interior stages, offering flexibility in output shaft selection. The gearbox is delivered assembled, though motors are not pre-installed.
The EVO Shifter features several improvements over previous models, including a robust 1/8″ diameter shoulder screw and a dog gear made from AMPCO 18 Bronze, which provides added lubricity for smoother shifting. The shift block assembly is reinforced with a larger bearing and threaded steel housing, enhancing durability. The input stage employs 32 DP gears and a 15-tooth pinion gear, facilitating a high 85:15 first stage reduction. Users can independently select high and low ratios, with the option to swap ratios as needed. Additional encoder options are available, and the gearbox includes aggressive weight reduction features.
The gearbox utilizes a pneumatic shift method powered by a spring-extend pneumatic cylinder, enabling shifts during acceleration, pushing, or deceleration. It can be mounted to an AM14U family chassis or a 2″x1″ box tube frame using existing mounting plate holes. The gearbox requires proper greasing for optimal operation, with a recommended break-in period to ensure smooth performance. The encoder ratio for two-stage versions is 3:1, and the gearbox includes a US Digital encoder and pneumatic cylinder.
Note: Ensure proper installation of the pinion gear using a 3-ton arbor press for NEO motors due to the interference fit, and apply red Loctite 271 for CIM motors to secure the pinion gear.
