The AndyMark EVO Shifter am14u Family Shaft, StageA 3 Stage – 12.00:1 Ratio 2:1, StageB 3 Stage – 09.54:1 Ratio 2:1 represents a significant advancement in shifting transmission gearboxes. This two-speed, shift-on-the-fly gearbox incorporates an enhanced 4-tooth dog shifting method, allowing for seamless transitions between gears. It is compatible with two CIM or NEO motors and can be configured with either two or three interior stages, offering flexibility in performance. The gearbox is designed with mounting plates for two motors and is shipped assembled, though motors are not included.
The EVO Shifter features several improvements over previous models, including a robust 1/8″ diameter shoulder screw and a dog gear made from AMPCO 18 Bronze, which provides added strength and lubricity. The shift block assembly is reinforced with a larger bearing and threaded steel housing, enhancing durability. The input stage utilizes 32 DP gears and a 15-tooth pinion gear, achieving a high first stage reduction of 85:15. Users can independently select high and low ratios, and the gearbox supports various encoder options, including the US Digital E4T.
The gearbox is engineered for aggressive weight reduction, with machined gears and plates that facilitate easy assembly. An optional third stage offers an additional C ratio choice, and the gearbox can be mounted to an AM14U family chassis or a 2″x1″ box tube frame. The pneumatic shift method employs a spring-extend pneumatic cylinder, enabling shifts during acceleration, pushing, or deceleration. The gearbox’s weight ranges from 2.9 to 3.5 pounds, depending on the stage configuration.
Note: Proper greasing is essential for optimal operation and longevity of the gearbox. It is recommended to run the gearbox for 30 minutes without grease for a break-in period before applying grease to the spur gears periodically.
