The Sherline End Mill Holder 5/32 – 5/32 is designed to enhance the functionality and versatility of milling machines. This holder securely fastens onto the threaded end of the mill spindle, ensuring that end mills are held firmly in place with a single 10-32 set screw. This design prevents the end mill from spinning during heavy cuts, offering more support compared to a collet. The holder is particularly advantageous for using longer or double-ended end mills, expanding the range of cutting tools that can be utilized.

In addition to standard end mills, this holder accommodates special purpose cutters, such as those for key slots, dovetails, and corner radii, which typically have 3/8 diameter shanks. This feature significantly increases the milling machine’s versatility. The holder also facilitates a quick-change tool system, allowing for rapid switching between cutters by simply unscrewing one holder and threading on another. This is especially beneficial in CNC operations, as it maintains consistent tool length, eliminating the need to update tool diameter and length values in the CNC program’s tools table.

Note: It is recommended to apply a drop of light oil on the threads of the end mill holder before threading onto the spindle to ensure a smooth fit, as the thread pitch diameter is held to a tight tolerance to minimize runout.
