The Sherline 2-Axis Manual Machine Slide (“) is a precision-engineered tool designed for meticulous machining tasks. Constructed primarily from 6061-T6 aluminum, it features a durable black anodized finish. The slide incorporates steel parts with ground dovetails, ensuring stability and precision during operation. The table measures 8 inches by 2.75 inches and is available with either an inch or metric leadscrew, both of which are precision rolled from steel. The leadscrew backlash is adjustable, allowing for precise control and accuracy.

The dovetailed tables and saddles are equipped with adjustable gibs to eliminate play, enhancing the machine’s precision. The 2-inch industrial handwheels are graduated in .001-inch increments for inch slides and .01 mm increments for metric slides, providing fine control over movements. Mounting options are versatile, with provisions for securing the slide from either the bottom or the top, using the provided angle clamps for a secure fit.

The machine slide has a weight capacity of approximately 10 pounds, depending on the weight’s location and the table’s length. It is designed to withstand a duty cycle of 2080 hours under heavy use, although the anodized coating may begin to show wear after this period. Regular lubrication with light oil is recommended to prolong the lifespan of the dovetail and screw components. The leadscrews feature a rolled thread, and the backlash nuts are made of brass, which is the softer material and will wear out over time. However, the backlash nut is adjustable to compensate for wear.

Note: Do not use WD40 as a lubricant on these slides, as it will remove the anodized coating from the parts.
