The Sherline CNC-Ready 6-Direction 2-Axis Machine Slide 6575 (“) is a precision-engineered tool designed for versatile machining applications. Constructed primarily from 6061-T6 aluminum, it features a durable black anodized finish. The slide incorporates steel parts with ground dovetails, ensuring stability and precision during operation. The machine slide offers a table size of 8 inches by 2.75 inches, with the option of either an inch or metric leadscrew, catering to diverse measurement preferences. The column, made from 11-inch steel with ground dovetails, also provides inch or metric leadscrew options. Precision-rolled steel leadscrews and adjustable backlash ensure accurate and reliable performance.
The machine slide facilitates X- and Z-axis movements via handwheel, complemented by manual ram control for column rotation, pivot, swing, and in/out travel. Industrial handwheels, measuring 1-5/8 inches, are graduated in .001-inch increments for inch slides and .01 mm increments for metric slides, allowing for precise adjustments. The slide is CNC-ready, equipped with mounts for NEMA 23 stepper motors, although it requires the installation of these motors for manual operation.
Mounting options are versatile, with provisions from both the bottom and top. The base includes two 1/4-20 holes for bottom mounting, while four angle clamps are provided for top mounting, ensuring a secure installation. The slide’s weight capacity is approximately 10 pounds, depending on the weight’s location and table length. For optimal performance, it is recommended to keep the dovetail and screw lubricated with light oil, as this will extend their lifespan.
The machine slide is designed for a duty cycle of 2080 hours under heavy use, with the anodized coating expected to show wear after this period. However, the slide remains fully functional, and the adjustable backlash nut compensates for wear until the threads are depleted.
Note: Do not use WD40 as a lubricant on these slides, as it will remove the anodized coating.
