The Sherline 8-Direction Benchtop Mill Column Upgrade (Metric) is designed for owners of the 5000-series or 5400-series Sherline milling machines who wish to enhance their equipment’s capabilities. This upgrade package allows the conversion of existing mills into an 8-direction mill, providing additional functionality for more complex projects. The package includes a modified base and all necessary attachment screws to ensure a proper fit with the existing mill models. Additionally, a column travel extension is included, enabling the headstock to be positioned closer to the table for improved precision and versatility.
This upgrade features an adapter base that offsets the column back by an additional two inches, thereby increasing the Y-axis capacity to match that of the 2000-series, 8-direction mill. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for users seeking to expand their milling capabilities without the need to purchase a new machine. The upgrade offers an economical solution for those with older mills, allowing them to enjoy the increased capacity and functionality of the Model 2000 mill.
Note: If upgrading a 5000/5400 series mill with a brass tube leadscrew cover for the Y-axis, the column upgrade cannot be used without removing the brass tube.
