This upgrade includes the 2000-series ram, featuring laser-engraved scales available in metric measurements. It provides the benefits of the 2000-series mill column, including a large work area and the capability for movement in seven directions. The short column stands at 4 inches tall, matching the height of the regular 2000 mill round column, and is ideal for applications where space is a constraint.
The mounting hole pattern of this column is compatible with the new mill base, which includes a thru hole for the Y-axis cover tube. It is important to note that this column will not fit older style mill bases without modification. For those using an older mill base, additional drilling and counterboring are required to accommodate the new hole pattern. The columns are secured to the mill base using two angled side-by-side bolts, and new bolts are provided with each base.
When installing the rigid column base, ensure that the step on the boss is positioned at the front of the machine. This orientation provides an additional inch of Y-axis travel compared to the 2000 column, enhancing the operational range and flexibility of the mill setup.
