The Sherline 13″ Lathe Crosslide & Saddle Assembly CNC Ready 4488 (“) is designed for individuals seeking to convert their Sherline lathe into a Chucker Lathe or a gang-tooling lathe. This crosslide is notably thicker than the standard version, measuring .870 inches, which necessitates the use of a headstock riser plate to align tooling with the headstock. It is important to note that this setup is not suitable for standard lathe operations and will render the tailstock unusable, as there is no riser available for the tailstock.
The assembly is CNC-ready, featuring a CNC leadscrew, a standard 1-5/8 inch handwheel, and a stepper motor mount. These components are factory-installed, allowing for the application of 23-frame size stepper motors. For those who prefer manual control, dual-shaft stepper motors are recommended. Handwheels are provided for each axis, facilitating precise manual adjustments.
