The Sharp Distance Sensor (10-80cm) utilizes reflected infrared light to measure the distance of opaque objects within a range of 10 to 80 centimeters. It generates an analog output that varies with the distance, providing a voltage from 3.1V at 10cm to 0.3V at 80cm. This sensor is capable of detecting objects with narrow edges, such as walls at sharp angles, and can be connected to the Phidgets 1011 IR Distance Adapter.
Note: The sensor’s output may vary depending on the target’s reflectance, size, motion direction, and alignment.
