The Phidgets IR Beam Break Proximity Sensor – 50mm is a sophisticated through-beam sensor designed to detect the interruption of an infrared light beam. It is capable of triggering when an opaque object obstructs the space between its emitter and receiver. Additionally, it can detect transparent objects such as water droplets, provided the infrared beam is sufficiently disrupted and the sensitivity is appropriately adjusted. Sensitivity adjustments can be made using a flathead screwdriver on the top of the sensor.
This sensor features a 50mm wide sensing gap and is equipped with a green LED indicator that illuminates when the device is powered. A red LED indicator activates when the sensor is triggered, providing clear visual feedback of its operational status. The sensor is constructed from durable polycarbonate material and is designed to operate within a temperature range of -25 C to 55 C, with a humidity range of 35% to 85% RH.
The Phidgets IR Beam Break Proximity Sensor is engineered with protection circuitry to guard against reverse polarity and short-circuit conditions, ensuring reliable performance. It is suitable for use in various applications where precise detection of object presence or absence is required.
