The Motoron M2S24v14 Dual High-Power Motor Controller Shield for Arduino (No Connectors) is a sophisticated device designed to manage two high-power DC motors via an Arduino or Arduino-compatible board through an IC interface. This model supports motor supply voltages ranging from 6.5V to 40V and can deliver continuous output currents of up to 14A for each motor. This particular version is solely the motor controller, devoid of any header pins or terminal blocks.
The Motoron M2S series of dual high-power motor controller shields simplifies the process of independently controlling two bidirectional, brushed DC motors with an Arduino or a compatible board. Unlike the majority of motor drivers and motor driver shields, the Motoron does not necessitate any PWM outputs or timers on the Arduino. Instead, the Arduino communicates with the Motoron using IC, thus only requiring two I/O lines.
The M2S24v14 shield supports motor supply voltages from 6.5V to 40V and can deliver continuous output currents up to 14A per motor. The M2S24v14 is distinguishable from other M2S shields by its smaller discrete MOSFETs and the number 100 on top of the tall silver electrolytic capacitors.
The Motoron Arduino library simplifies the process of using the Motoron with an Arduino or compatible controller. The drivers printed circuit board is designed to dissipate heat from the MOSFETs, but performance can be enhanced by adding a heat sink or airflow. For high-current installations, it is recommended that the motor and power supply wires be soldered directly, bypassing the 5mm blue terminal blocks, which are rated for up to 16A.
Important Note: The M2S24v14 shield supports an absolute maximum motor supply voltage of 40V, but it is not intended for use with 36V batteries.
